Montrachet Grand Cru, Blanc, 2021

Comes from "Bald Mountain", which is easily explained by the poverty of its soil.

Production area : 8 ha
Altitude : 250-300 m
This small terroir of 8 hectares is divided between Chassagne-Montrachet and Puligny-Montrachet. It is in the middle of the slope, on a brown limestone soil where drainage is very effective. The wine is subtle maybe because of the "Pholadomiya Bellona" marl which is very thick there. Our supply of grapes is located in Puligny-Montarchet in order to produce maximum 800 bottles every vintage.

This wine of great tonality is both concentrated and chiselled. With great vitality, it reveals itself through an excellent finish.
Food and wine pairings
Ideal with veal rice with cream, or grilled langoustines.

"This is rather battened down but shows a proper step up in quality and intensity. Exceptionally fine, pure, and persistent finish."

"The Montrachet was hard to judge: similar to the Bâtard-Montrachet in colour and with not much greater intensity of bouquet either. Just on the palate it is exceptionally weighty, certainly ripe, though seems to lack a little bit of precision at this stage, perhaps just an expression of its backwardness. I am sure this will refine with further elevage.

"More aromatic depth but with a little reduction in this case. A hint of gas – more muscle but no fat. There’s energy in the Montrachets this year – much more than in 2019, Great, great finishing again – a slightly different character to the florals in this case – but seriously great again!"
